The Ronnie Gardiner Method: transforming lives through music and rhythm.
The Ronnie Gardiner Method is a training and rehabilitation method that activates several sensory pathways at the same time, thus stimulating different parts of the brain.

Drawing on the principles of neuroplasticity, motor learning, and postural control, RGM presents an innovative approach to brain exercise. This method incorporates rhythm, music, verbalisation, and movement to stimulate both cognitive and motor skills.
RGM has shown considerable success in assisting individuals living with neurological conditions such as stroke, Parkinson's Disease, dementia, and MS, in addition to benefiting healthy aging populations. Moreover, it has been effectively implemented in educational settings to support students in enhancing their learning and concentration abilities.
Think of RGM as akin to acquiring a new language. Initially, the terminology may appear unfamiliar and somewhat alien, but with consistent practice, it becomes second nature, allowing you to readily recognise and comprehend the RGM names and symbols and implement them in your work with clients.
After successfully running the RGM training course in Scotland in 2024 we are planning to run annual courses. If you are interested in having an RGM course near you please get in touch.
2025 RGM Courses
Level 1 - Introduction in Enniskillen April 4th and 5th (9-5 each day)
Level 1 Manchester TBC

Level 2 - Foundation course TBC. Autumn 2025 or Spring 2026
You become a practitioner after completion of both the Introduction and Foundation courses and learn how to deliver this method in your work and bring a new dimension of therapy to your clients.
Advanced practitioner Course
DATES TBC

A final two days honing your skills and knowledge of the method and how to impact specific conditions.

This course will be offered if and when there is enough interest.

Training Courses
In 2024 the Ronnie Gardiner Method training was held in Scotland! The 2025 training is going to be help in Enniskillen in April and hopefully also in Manchester with the second part of the course continuing later in the year somewhere in the UK.
Anyone wishing to implement the Ronnie Gardner Method in their work must complete both part 1 and 2 of the course. There will be an advanced course running in the future for those practitioners who wish to develop their skills.
Ronnie Gardiner Method 'Move your brain'
The Ronnie Gardiner Method (RGM) is a fun, structured, multi-sensory brain exercise method that uses rhythm and music to stimulate movement, speech and cognition. Because several brain areas are activated at the same time (including vision, hearing, motor skills, speech, memory), it is a very strong way to improve the condition of the brain.

Transforming Lives through Music and Rythm
The Ronnie Gardiner Method, or RGM for short, was developed in Sweden in 1993 and has spread from there to England, Israel, the USA, and the Netherlands. It is a training and rehabilitation method that activates several sensory pathways at the same time, thus stimulating different parts of the brain. Originally, the method was developed for people with traumatic brain injury and injuries to the central nervous system, as a result of stroke or Parkinson's disease. But the Ronnie Gardiner Method is also used in working with children and adults with learning and concentration problems (dyslexia, dyscalculia and ADHD) and people with burn-out and/or depression.

The basis of the method is formed by the elements of rhythm, music, movement, and language, which activate several senses at the same time in a playful way. The execution of the exercises is reminiscent of a kind of body percussion, where the whole body is involved. Symbols specially developed for the method stand for various movements, which are accompanied by fixed sound names ("sound codes"). The level of difficulty can be individually adapted to the abilities of the participants and successively increased.

The goal of the Ronnie Gardiner method is to improve cooperation between the right and left hemispheres of the brain and to build new neural pathways in the brain. The method makes use of the now widely recognised neuroplasticity of the brain: injured or disturbed processes are resumed by the intensive stimulation.
The RGM training can be applied by a certified practitioner both individually (for example as part of the regular therapy session) and in a group. The latter offers the advantage of group dynamics and has a positive influence on well-being.

Through the various elements, the Ronnie Gardiner Method stimulates coordination, concentration, reading and speaking, as well as a sense of rhythm, self-confidence, balance, memory and motor skills.

In Sweden, the Ronnie Gardiner method has already grown into a widely practiced training method and is mainly used by music therapists, physiotherapists and speech therapists within (university) clinics, rehabilitation centres, nursing homes and practices.
Vision
The vision of RGM UK is to promote the method by organising regular training around the UK and ongoing support for those who are interested in the method and using it to help others.
